The Thoroughbred Health Network first launched in June 2015 as a northern pilot project but expanded nationwide in March 2017. In July 2017, the Thoroughbred Health Network was approved as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) and is now regulated by OSCR [charity number: SC047604].
The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) confirmed they are satisfied that the THN meets the charity test and the legal requirements for being a SCIO. This means the THN is now an incorporated body which has charitable status under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. This structure enables the THN to work towards its charitable purposes throughout Scotland, England and Wales, whilst working alongside industry partners across the racing, equestrian and veterinary sectors.

Since its formation as a pilot project, the Thoroughbred Health Network has been driven by project collaborators from across the equine industry. To ensure the continued development of the THN, the charity will formally appoint the charity’s trustees and members later this month.
